Denali
These paintings were made after a residency at Denali National Park in Alaska in the summer of 2012. Alone in a cabin, miles from any other humans in a park the size of Switzerland, I embraced a relationship with the landscape that was both intimate and grand, with a sense of longing for a land undisturbed by human touch and a loneliness devoid of human interaction. They are an encounter with nature and the environment that incorporated both the near and far, the personal and the universal.
The paintings will be exhibited at Kathryn Markel Gallery in 2013.
